EAA284 meeting March 13 2011

Our March meeting will be Sunday March 13th 2011 at 2 PM at Red Stewart Airfield (40I). Second Lieutenant Nathaniel Deleon will give a presentation on his research on insect inspired micro air vehicles. He has just finished his Master’s program at the Air Force Institute of Technology. He will talk about what he has learned in his research studying months. It seems that the Air Force wants a surveillance vehicle that can blend in with the environment. His program title is “Using Nature As A Design Template” I have heard Nate and anther AFIT researcher talk on their research topics and have found both quite interesting. Continue reading

EAA284 Group USAF Museum Tour April 15 2011

As a group we have decided on Friday, April 15th for our tour. For information on the tour, times etc please see http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/bts110415 Clicking on next at the bottom of the page will take you to the registration form. I’m not permitted to do a group reservation. I’m not sure if I can register every one individually on the form. I can try if you let me know that you are coming. Each participant must bring a Government issued photo ID card such as a drivers license. The addressed asked for must match that which is on your ID.

Please let me know if you plan on making the tour. I don’t know how fast the tours fill up, so I suggest registering as soon as possible.

EAA284 Meeting Janurary 9 2011

EAA Chapter 284 will have its January 2011 meeting Sunday January 9th at 2 pm at Red Stewart Airfield, Waynesville, OH. There is no planned program. I am suggesting a show and tell of any new toys that you may have gotten over the last several month or from good ol’ St. Nick himself. I have just received an Anywhere Map Quadra QPS to replace my Lowrance GPS. I will bring them both so they can be compared.
I will also have the EAA Chapter Awards for last year’s officers.

EAA284 Meeting December 12 2010

EAA Chapter 284 will hold its December 2010 meeting on SUnday December 12 at 2 PM. Meeting location is Red Stewart Airfield Waynesville OH (40I). Bob Dewenter of Centerville OH is starting a Pietenpol to be powered by a converted Corvair engine. He has returned from the recent Corvair College #19, which was held November 12-14 in Barnwell S.C.
For those who may not know William Wynne puts on free weekend seminars on converting Corvair engines. For those considering a Corvair conversion the Corvair Colleges are a great way to get some hands on experience, as well as to meet other Corvair builders. We look forward to Bob’ presentation.
